"Explanation"
Amaterasu Omikami is the main deity in Japanese mythology. She is interpreted as a goddess, the presiding deity who rules Takamagahara, and the ancestor of the Imperial Family. In the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, she is depicted as a being with the characteristics of a sun goddess and a shaman. Emperor Jimmu is her descendant.

In the Kojiki, it is said that when Izanagi no Mikoto returned from Yomi no Kuni, the land of the dead, where his wife Izanami no Mikoto resided, he washed away the defilement of Yomi. When he washed his left eye, Amaterasu Omikami was born. At the same time, Tsukiyomi no Mikoto was born from his right eye, and Susanoo no Mikoto was born from his nose. These three are called the "Mihashira no Uzumi no Miko." At this time, Izanagi no Mikoto instructed Amaterasu Omikami to rule Takamagahara ("Kamiumi" - the birth of the gods).

Susanoo no Mikoto, who was entrusted with the sea, cried continuously because he wanted to go to the land of the dead where Izanami no Mikoto was. Izanagi no Mikoto banished him. Before going to the land of the dead, Susanoo no Mikoto went up to Takamagahara to see his sister Amaterasu Omikami. However, Amaterasu Omikami thought that her brother had come to take over Takamagahara, so she armed herself and waited.

Susanoo no Mikoto swore an oath to prove his innocence, and five male gods were born from Amaterasu Omikami's possessions, and three female gods were born from Susanoo no Mikoto's possessions. Susanoo no Mikoto declared victory [Annotation 2] ("The Oath of Amaterasu and Susanoo").

At this time, the following five gods were born from Amaterasu Omikami's possessions and were considered her children.
