Antique Primitive Child's Wooden Dome Top Trunk. From the mid 1850's. This piece is wonderful...obtained from Shaker Village at Sabbathday Lake region in New Gloucester, Maine, so possibly Shaker. There is some wear to wood...darkening in some spots and some wood checks. The handles are an embossed brass. Latch is iron. There are tin fasteners holding slats. All nails used are antique square nails & rosehead nails. The cardboard divider insert is still present, but shows some wear. There is a back slat that is attached to base, but need to be reattached to lid, to make it more secure. Right now lid sits on it nicely and can be displayed opened or closed. This ia a wonderful treasure to display. Measures 18" in length, 11" in width & 11" in height.
***Please view all pictures. The angle of first picture makes trunk appear to be a flat top, but if you look at other pictures...you can see it is a dome top.
